The Election of 2008 will be decided by the Independent voters in America. That may appear to be a broad statement, but the number of Independent Voters is about 35%, and that’s over one third of the electorate. So far in this campaign, both the Republican and Democratic parties and tried to headline candidates who will not appeal to that segment of America that will determine who wins and who goes home. This article is not supporting for any one particular candidate, but to demonstrate that hardcore party members on both sides of the isle are either dumb, blind or both!
THE DEMOCRATS: If you had just awakened from a coma and you turned on your television set, you would think that there are only two candidates running for the Presidential Office, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Throughout the campaign coverage so far, the Media has fallen in love with both candidates, as if there was only a two person race. The fact that Obama is the first African American candidate to make a significant showing in the polls and Clinton as the first woman who can challenge anyone running for the nomination offers the Media something to talk about, other than the issues. The public is being inundated with coverage on both candidates, while the one Democratic candidate, John Edwards is the only one who can beat any of the Republicans. This is not wishful thinking, it’s a fact! Polls taken show that Edwards can beat all Republicans, with the possible exception of John McCain. Go ahead….take a look by clicking on the highlighted statement you just passed over! Other polls taken have come to the same conclusion. Recently, the Edwards campaign has taken aim at the Media for inadequate campaign coverage over the campaign so far. All three have a very similar message, but only one can win the Presidency. Winning the nomination of the Democratic Party is not enough to win it all. This election will be decided by the Independent Voters of America, and John Edwards is the only candidate who can seriously attract the Independent in the November Elections. At this critical time in our nation’s history, the Democratic Party is on a course for a “Social Experiment.” We’ve lived long enough to see that a woman and an African-American can become a viable candidate for the highest Office in the land! The only problem is, can they get the vote to win when the average American closes the voting booth’s curtains and cast his or her vote? If you’re a Democrat, do you want to win the Executive Office or try to make history? John Edwards leads both in national polls against all Republicans, with the possible exception of John McCain….and we’ll talk about him in the next paragraph! If you don’t believe me, how about hearing it from this Republican strategist:
THE REPUBLICANS: The Republicans face a different problem and their stymied by the old proverb, “Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth!” Up until recently, both the Republican Party and the Media have coveted every candidate, except John McCain. When McCain’s campaign was in trouble, many columnists, such as Robert Novak of the Washington Post gleefully announced McCain’s demise. The Republican Party is in a dilemma, as they are trying to avoid anything to do with George W. Bush, and focus on a “new” look to the Republican Party, except for using the same line of “fear of terrorism” to attract voters. It worked in 2004! The problem is that none of their candidates attract much support with the Independent voters of America, and without them, they will definitely loose the election. Mitt Romney has changed his stand on so many issues that even he doesn’t know exactly what he stands for. Rudy Giuliani is still running on his 9/11 show of strength, but the New York City Fire and Police Departments denounce his “leadership.” Mike Huckabee is a marginal player in this election and will only attract the “Bible Belt,” probably loosing the election with fewer votes than George McGovern in 1972! Who is the only Republican to defeat the Democrats?......it’s the 800 pound gorilla in the room that no one is talking about, John McCain! Polls show that John McCain can defeat nearly all of the Democrats with the exception of John Edwards. Go back and click on the highlighted statement you just passed over and take a look. Without showing up, McCain came in fourth in Iowa, about 200 votes behind Thompson, but no one has mentioned that. McCain’s campaign was a mess, but the support was always there. That’s one of the reasons why he won in New Hampshire. To the diehard Republican base, John McCain is a maverick, and even now, National Review claims that Rudy is the real winner in New Hampshire. The point is this, maverick or not, John McCain is the only candidate who can bring home the Independent vote for the Republican Party. If you don’t believe me, how about from former President Clinton!
