It’s nice to know that now we have brought Democracy to Iraq, it will be now included in our AAA Guide Books as our newly acquired Fifty-First State! Most of the highways will be either not recommended for travel or under construction…..and beware of that Motel 6 in the book. You had best spend the night in a foxhole!
Having to listen to Bush is like a recurring nightmare…..it’s always the same ending and you awake with that sinking feeling, hoping that it was a dream. Well, it isn’t a dream. It’s that past, present and now, the indefinite future! With the Patreaus Report in his hip pocket, our gun slinging President is hunkered down for the long haul in Iraq, well beyond his Second Term. Thank God, Allah or Adonai for the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution! Not only are we going to be in Iraq at full strength for the next year, but we’re going to be there for a long time, now that we have gone into an “enduring relationship” with Iraq and the Al-Maliki government. “Stay the course” and been revised to “Stay!”
Other than saving American and Iraqi lives, the idea is that we leave Iraq to diminish the American presence in the Middle East. That was one of the reasons that Ben Laden placed the US on his ‘’hit” list for having bases on the sacred ground of Saudi Arabia. In a fatwa given in 1998, he ordered a protracted war in the Middle East where he “Al Queda” would bleed the United States dry, if we didn’t leave. Ben Laden must believe in Santa Claus by now as President Bush has given him everything he ever wanted on his Christmas List! Our presence in Iraq is fast becoming an outrage to even Moderate Muslims, who are in a loosing battle with Fundamentalists for the hearts and minds of Islam. Mubarek is in serious trouble in Egypt. Musharraf is facing a possible ousting in Pakistan, and they have the BOMB! Gaza is now run by Hamas, Fatah now governs the West Bank and Hezbollah’s strength is heading for a showdown in Lebanon. All of the above has happened while the US has occupied Iraq! These facts are not coincidental!
The Bush Administration and Congress are solely responsible for this disaster in the Middle East. The Administration chose to use “The War on Terrorism” to attack Iraq and bring down Saddam Hussein in the name of bringing “Democracy” to the Middle East, rather than successfully fight the real problem in Afghanistan. The US Congress gave him the “green light,” as well as a wink and a nod. The Democrats may have heard the message from the American people, but are powerless to do anything about it. That, however, does not exonerate them. So far, most of the candidates have offered nothing but vague options as to ending the War. It is obvious that nothing will be accomplished while Bush remains in the White House. The solution of Iraq will be passed to the next Administration. Now, it’s your chance to do something about it. You can listen carefully to each candidate; watch what those candidates for President do in Congress over the next few months. Then, cast your vote. It’s about time that you had a say as to where we are heading into the Twenty-First Century!
